Lagos, Nigeria – Leading professional services firm PwC has announced the appointment of Sam Abu as the new Regional Senior Partner for the West Market Area and Country Senior Partner for PwC Nigeria, effective July 1, 2023.
Joining the esteemed PwC Africa Leadership Team (ALT), Sam will play a vital role in shaping and driving the strategic direction for Nigeria and the West Market Area. With a strong emphasis on fostering trust and delivering sustainable outcomes for stakeholders in the region, Sam brings over 23 years of professional experience at PwC in Nigeria and the UK to his new role.
Having held various leadership positions within the firm, including West Market Area Assurance Leader and Financial Services Leader for Nigeria, Sam’s expertise spans auditing and advising local and multinational clients across diverse industries. He also served for six years on the PwC Africa Governance Board.
Sam succeeds Uyi Akpata, who has successfully served as Regional Senior Partner since July 2014. Uyi will remain with the firm until his retirement on June 30, 2024, following a distinguished career that spanned almost four decades, with over three decades as a partner.
Uyi expressed his congratulations, stating, “I congratulate Sam on his appointment, which reflects our firm’s confidence in his leadership ability and proven track record.
