General Hospital Ifitedunu, Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra state is now Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, NAUTH Annex, Ifitedunu.
The Chairman, Medical Advisory Council of NAUTH, Dr. Ogochukwu Ezejiofor disclosed this while speaking during a free medical outreach organized by the hospital’s Department of Family Medicine at the General Hospital.
According to Dr Ezejiofor, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Joseph Ugboaja, as well as the management team of the hospital thought it wise to convert the general hospital, as a way of expanding their medical services to the people and revealed that the hospital can boast of over three hundred medical consultants.
Dr. Ezejiofor who described the upliftment of the hospital as a welcome development, added that Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital has all the needed equipment to treat all manner of illnesses in the hospital and disclosed that the free medical mission is part of the hospitals corporate social responsibility.
The Principal, Medical Officer in-charge of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital Annex, Ifitedunu, Dr. Tochukwu Nweke told ABS that they will give the best of medical services to Ndi Ifitedunu and all the catchment areas, as they have qualified medical doctors and consultants to serve in the hospital.
Earlier, the traditional ruler of Ifitedunu, Igwe Dr. Emeka Iluno expressed joy over the development and said that it will reduce mortality rate in the area and promised that the Community will always support the hospital to discharge their work efficiently.
One of the beneficiaries of the free medical services, Mrs. Obioma Ilochi thanked the hospital for remembering them, especially now that the Nigerian economy is hitting the ordinary person negatively.
Recall that the Department of Family Medicine, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital Nnewi had recently organized free medical services in Umunya, Oyi Local Government Area where they also have an outstation.
