The Transition Committee Chairmen Idemili South Local Government Area, Hon. Obi Amaka Iyom Has Collaborated With Anambra Primary Health Care Development Agency to host a one week outreach for mother’s, newborn babies and children in Nnobi, Idemili South Council Area of Anambra State.
The initiative which is in partnership with United Nations Children Fund(UNICEF) is targeted at delivering a package of basic interventions that are highly effective in reducing child mortality and improving mother and child health.
The Free medical services which was in two categories includes:
One for children which includes; Free Vitamin A supplement for children from 6 months to 5 years, and ready to use therapeutic food. And for children above 6 months with severe acute malnutrition. Free De-worming of children from 1-5 years. Birth registration from 0-5 years. Immunization
For Adults (Pregnant women, Nursing mothers and others). Iron folate, ANC, family planning. Treatment of minor ailment for children from 6 to 17years. Free covid 19 treatment for adult from 18 years and above
Speaking during the exercise, the Executive Secretary, Anambra State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Pharm. Chisom Uchem lauded the Idemili South local government chairman for her enthusiasm and passion for the health and wellbeing of her people. She noted the provision of Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) for every primary health care center in the state and promised adequate funding and proper monitoring of the health facilities to meet up with the demand of delivery adequate care services to the people.
She went further to commend to Gov. Soludo for trusting the leadership of Idemili South Council Area to a more capable hands and charged the beneficiaries to always take advantage of such ample opportunity to reduce the high rate of maternal, infants and child health related issues.
Also speaking, the Chief Matron, Ibenesi Primary Health Care Center, Nnobi, Mrs. Ukpa Efem affirmed that many malnurished children benefited from the health exercise and went further to encourage the women, both pregnant and nursing to always visit the center for regular checkup and other treatment.
Expressing their happiness, some of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Augusta Ugochukwu and her counterpart, Mrs. Muoma Ozioma Victoria commended the Idemili South Council Mayor for her magnanimity stating that such event has not been witnessed in the area. They pray for God’s guidance, protection and success for the TC Chairman and Prof. Chukwuma Soludo led administration.
The Idemili South Council Boss went further to affirmed that it is just a tip of the iceberg compared to many other programs and exercises aimed at elevating the standard of health and life of of the people. She however promise to continue to initiate such program regularly.
