How to Resolve Facebook Ad Payment Problems in Nigeria

If you’re facing issues with your Facebook ads due to payment problems, don’t worry; there’s a solution. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the steps to overcome payment hurdles and ensure your ads run smoothly.

Understanding the Payment Problem

Recently, I came across a Facebook friend who encountered a frustrating situation. She initiated an advertising campaign, but just two days later, her ad abruptly stopped running. The problem? Payment. Facebook was supposed to charge her less than N1,000, and she had already connected her card, yet the payment wasn’t going through. She assured us that her account had sufficient funds, and she attempted the transaction numerous times, but still, the payment refused to process.

Her chosen payment method was postpaid, which meant Facebook would deduct the ad expenses after the campaign ran. However, this approach wasn’t working for her. If you’re facing a similar issue, here’s what you should do:

Switching to a Prepaid Payment Method

  1. Create a Business Account: Start by creating a Business Account in your Ad Manager. You can do this by visiting business.facebook.com/overview. Facebook will send you a confirmation email, so check your inbox and confirm your account. Once this step is complete, your business account is ready.
  2. Setting Up Your Ad Account: Navigate to the Ad Account section, create a new one, and set the currency to Naira. Ensure you set your location to your local time zone (GMT +1 for Nigeria, Lagos). Give your ad account a name, and it will be created.
  3. Add Funds: Access the bill or payment settings and add the desired amount through the payment gateway PayU. This step is crucial because it transforms your payment method from postpaid to prepaid.
  4. Start Running Your Ads: After successfully adding funds, you can start running your ads without any payment issues.

Please note that if your ad account has been disabled, this method may not work for you. If that’s the case, consider obtaining another ad account and follow the same procedure outlined here.

Benefits of Prepaid Payment

Switching to a prepaid payment method offers several advantages:

  • Payment Problem Resolution: You won’t encounter payment problems like the one my Facebook friend faced. Payments will process smoothly.
  • Flexible Funding: You can add any amount you want to your ad account without any issues, giving you greater flexibility in managing your ad spend.
  • Peaceful Advertising: With a prepaid approach, you can run your ads without the constant worry of payment glitches interrupting your campaigns.

I hope this guide helps someone facing similar Facebook ad payment problems. By following these steps, you can ensure that your ad campaigns run seamlessly, allowing you to focus on reaching your target audience effectively.
