In a recent public notice, Anambra Road Traffic Management Agency (ARTMA) has announced new measures to address concerns raised by road users. The Managing Director, Okonkwo Konti Komplete Emeka, has outlined the following guidelines:

1. Cooperation: Road users are advised not to argue, resist, bribe, or engage in confrontations with ARTMA officers when they feel wrongly impounded.

2. Vehicle Towing: If a vehicle is impounded, individuals should willingly agree to drive their vehicle to the nearest ARTMA base to avoid towing.

3. Video Evidence: Request the unit supervisor, who will promptly show a video of the offense committed. Failure to do so within 10 minutes should prompt individuals to call the central customer care numbers provided.

4. Video Recording: Offenders’ videos are posted in a WhatsApp group for every local government office, ensuring transparency and accountability.

5. Impoundment Areas: Vehicles should not be impounded in areas lacking proper signage.

6. Release of Vehicles: Any vehicle without a detailed video will be released without charge, and officers involved will face disciplinary action.

7. Corruption Concerns: Reports have surfaced about corrupt officers demanding higher fines on the spot. Individuals are encouraged to note the unique identification number on the vests of such officers and report them.

8. Customer Care Numbers: The public is urged to contact the central customer care numbers, 08144228836 or 08081958091, for assistance and support.

These new procedures aim to enhance fairness, transparency, and accountability within ARTMA. The agency is determined to address the concerns of road users and ensure a safer and more efficient road network.
