A new viral video clip capturing an Imo State University (IMSU) lecturer of the Medical Laboratory Department, Dr. Desmond Izunwanne, ordering students to crawl out of his class is a disturbing and alarming incident.
This comes days after he was called out for assaulting a pregnant female student. This kind of behaviour is not only unprofessional, but it can also be traumatic for the students involved.
In the video available to BETAGISTS, Dr. Desmond was seen ordering the students, all female, to kneel and crawl out of his class after they showed up late.
The video clips have been raising serious questions about the lecturer’s judgement and suitability to teach. It also highlights the need for institutions to have policies in place to prevent and address such incidents. All students deserve to be treated with dignity and respect in the classroom, and any behaviour that undermines this basic principle should be swiftly and firmly addressed.
