Peace Mass Transit Assures Customers of Unchanged Bus Fares Despite Fuel Price Increase

Peace Mass Transit, a leading road transport company, has declared that it will not raise bus fares despite the recent surge in fuel prices.

Dr. Sam Onyishi, Chairman of Peace Mass Transport, announced that the company would absorb any additional costs resulting from the higher fuel prices, ensuring that travel fares to all destinations across the country would remain the same.

In an internal communication, Ifeanyi Enete, the general manager of the company, instructed depot staff and cooperative members to adhere to the existing price structure, disregarding the new petroleum product prices recently announced by the NNPC.

The decision to maintain the current transportation costs was made by Dr. Onyishi to demonstrate goodwill and support to the company’s valued customers, who are already burdened by the rising cost of living in Nigeria.

The General Manager, along with 12 cooperative societies that operate the PMT fleet, received explicit instructions from Dr. Onyishi to implement this decision without exception.

“Our chairman, out of his generosity, has instructed us not to raise transport fares despite the significant increase in pump prices due to the removal of fuel subsidies,” stated GM Enete, addressing the staff and cooperative members. “He has made this sacrifice to alleviate the hardships faced by Nigerians.”

Further elaborating on the selfless nature of this decision, Dr. Onyishi highlighted the reasons behind it, emphasising the need for collective sacrifice and a focus on what individuals can do for the country.

“These challenging times demand sacrifice; we should all consider what we can contribute to Nigeria rather than what Nigeria can do for us,” expressed Dr. Onyishi. “Though it will be tough, we will endure for the sake of humanity, just as we supported our workers during the COVID-19 pandemic despite the lack of income. The same God will provide for us once again.”
