10th Assembly: Labour Party Rep Member-elect Suspends Celebration, Calls For Prayers for Peter Obi

In what can be considered an unprecedented show of loyalty and devotion to the Presidential Candidate of Labour Party and his battle to reclaim his mandate in court, the member-elect for Anaocha, Njikoka and Dunukofia federal constituency, Hon George Ibezimako Ozodinobi, Aja-Ajanze has suspended the celebration that would have followed his inauguration as member of 10th National Assembly.

In a statement personally signed by him, Hon Ozodinobi while stating that it’s not yet time to celebrate, noted that Peter Obi’s efforts to reclaim his mandate has moved him to reserve the celebration that would have followed his inauguration for a later date.

The statement reads:

“It is with utmost humility and immense gratitude that I prepare to assume office as the member representing Anaocha, Njikoka and Dunukofia federal constituency in the National Assembly. I was indeed overwhelmed by the support accorded to me and my party, Labour Party by members of our dear constituency in the last election. Gladly, this support has continued to manifest months after the contest and I am not unmindful of the expectations of our people.”

“As I assume office on 13th June, 2023 as your representative in the 10th National Assembly, I wish to once again reiterate my commitment to the vision of Labour party anchored on building a new Nigeria.”

“It has to be said that my journey to the 10th House of Representatives is divinely ochestrated by God and physically propelled by the vision, foresight and integrity of my leader, HE Mr Peter Obi who is working hard to reclaim his mandate in court. This development has moved me to reserve the ceremony that would have followed my inauguration for a later date.”

“Recall that during the well-attended Inter-denominational service and prayer session I organised for Mr Peter Obi and his running mate, Sen. Datti Baba-Ahmed in my hometown Nimo on Friday May 26, 2023 and my thanksgiving Mass at Iwene Tansi Catholic Cathedral Umudioka on Sunday, 28th May 2023, I expressly stated on both occasions, that I will not invite anyone to Abuja nor hold any ceremony to mark my inauguration, because IT IS NOT YET TIME TO CELEBRATE! This is the time to pray and work towards the retrieval of the mandate of our leader – a man whom I believe God has chosen to liberate our nation, Nigeria.”

“Notwithstanding, as I get set to begin my four year term, I am guided by my promise of offering our people quality and effective representation. Day and Night I shall work assiduously, within the limits of my office to add value to the lives of the people by sponsoring enabling laws and bringing the attention of the House to the challenges being faced by the people of DNA through courageous and impactful motions.”

“I shall however be needing your prayers and support as I embark on this four year journey. Please do not fail to also pray for Mr Peter Obi, for the battle he has taken up requires spiritual, physical and moral assitance.”

“May God bless you all.”
